Music on Your Mind – ONLINE

We were very sad to have to postpone the wonderful Unbroken Festival & Short Film Prize in 2020, particularly at such a difficult time, when more people than ever could benefit from some extra support with their mental health.   It was particularly disappointing in the case of a new event we had planned: Music On Your Mind – an evening of songs from the world of musicals, pop, and elsewhere, each with a connection to the many issues surrounding mental health, and all complemented by some evocative readings on the same subject.

In an effort to mark the original festival period and to offer a little entertainment and support to those in need of it, we are now asking you to let us know which songs, poems, or readings have given you particular comfort or inspiration in isolation and why?  We would also be delighted if anyone would like to write something about their own experience of – or feelings about – the current situation and share that with us, too.

Our cast members will then record clips of themselves performing a variety of these song suggestions and readings, along with some of the pieces that were part of the original Music on Your Mind programme.  (Alternatively, if you would like to send us clips of you performing your chosen songs, poems, or readings yourself, we’d love to see those as well!*)  Over the coming weeks, we will post these clips on our social media channels, together with useful helplines and festival information etc

Please send your suggestions or clips to us via Facebook (comment below the post on our Facebook page), Twitter (tweet us at @unbrokenfest, using the hashtag #MOYM) or Instagram (either comment below the main post on our account @unbrokenfest, or tag us in your own post and use the hashtags #UnbrokenFest, #UnbrokenFilms, #MusicOnYourMind, #MOYM).

We can’t wait to hear from you – and to share some inspiration and comfort with everyone over the coming weeks.  Stay safe and well in the meantime. 😊
